Te Oranganui is a kaupapa Māori organisation providing health, wellbeing, and social services that support whānau across Whanganui and surrounding districts. Guided by tikanga Māori, Whānau Ora, and a whānau-centred approach, we work alongside whānau to strengthen wellbeing, build capability, and achieve their aspirations. He kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role 

Join Te Oranganui as a Kaitūruki - Whānau Ora, supporting hapū māmā, pēpi and whānau through the first 2,000 days of a child's life. Working within the Hutia te Rito model and guided by Whānau Ora principles, you will walk alongside whānau to strengthen wellbeing, build confidence and capability, and connect them with the support they need to achieve their aspirations.

This rewarding role focuses on building trusted relationships, promoting positive outcomes for pēpi and tamariki, strengthening connections to culture, identity and community, and supporting whānau-led decision making.

This is a fixed-term position through to 30 June 2027. 

He kōrero mōu | About You 

You are passionate about supporting whānau and improving outcomes for pēpi, tamariki and whānau. You bring a strengths-based approach and are confident working within kaupapa Māori and Whānau Ora frameworks.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in health, social services, community development or a related field.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • The ability to engage effectively with whānau, hapū, iwi and community partners.
  • An understanding of tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori and whānau-centred practice.
  • Empathy, integrity and a commitment to empowering whānau to achieve their goals.
