The Mental Health and Addiction Clinician (Rangatahi) provides youth‑focused assessment, intervention and case management for rangatahi aged 12–24 experiencing mild to severe mental health and/or substance use challenges. Working within Waiora Hinengaro, the role supports early intervention, treatment and recovery through evidence‑informed, developmentally appropriate approaches grounded in kaupapa Māori, tikanga Māori and whānau ora frameworks.

The clinician works in partnership with rangatahi, whānau, multidisciplinary teams and community partners to deliver culturally responsive, wraparound care that strengthens identity, connection and wellbeing. Practice occurs under the clinical oversight of a Registered Nurse and/or Team Lead, contributing to shared assessment, care planning, risk management and service transitions. Active engagement in supervision, accurate documentation and participation in kaupapa Māori activities are integral to supporting safe, effective and values‑led practice
